POLICE are trying to trace a driver who failed to stop at the scene of a crash in North Yorkshire.

At about 6.45am on Monday, October 23, a motorcyclist was seriously injured trying to avoid a car not far from Great Ouseburn, near Easingwold.

The motorcyclist sustained serious leg and arm injuries in the incident, which happened at the junction of the B6265 and Gallabar Lane, which leads to Marton-cum-Grafton.

The 52-yer-old local man, who was riding a Triumph motorcycle, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary. Police say a member of the public stopped at the scene to help the rider before the arrival of the emergency services.

The car was turning right out of Gallabar Lane and the motorcyclist was turning left into Gallabar Lane.

Officers are appealing to the driver of the car and to anyone else who was in the area at the time who witnessed the collision or saw a vehicle leave the scene of the incident.

Police say there is no other information relating to the colour or make of the car and so information from witnesses or anyone who believes it is their car involved is vital.
