ONE of York’s most haunted pubs is planning a huge Halloween party in memory of its former landlord, who died earlier this year after a long battle against cancer.

The event at the historic Black Swan Inn, in York, will raise funds for the oncology ward at York Hospital, where Andy Cross was treated before he died in June.

Andy’s partner, Maggie Anderton, who is now the landlady, said Halloween parties had always been Andy’s favourite events at the pub and she wanted to continue what he started.

“It promises to be a great, fun event, where we will hopefully raise some money for a worthy cause. Throughout the evening there will be a disco in the upstairs room. Fancy dress is a must and there’ll be a prize for the best. Games range from the traditional apple bobbing to the more modern pumpkin bowling.

The party will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 7.30pm.
