FRIDAY the 13th is proving lucky for a Halloween attraction, which has seen a rush on tickets for its opening night.

York Maze will be opening its Hallowscream fright nights on Friday, October 13, when horror fans can expect to encounter dozens of actors in five haunted house scare attractions, plus ghoulish roving characters.

Tom Pearcy, from the Maze near Elvington, said: “This is the eighth year for our Hallowscream event, but the first on which it has fallen on a Friday 13th.

“Demand for tickets tends to grow the nearer we get to Halloween, but we have seen unprecedented demand for the Friday 13th opening night with tickets selling out well in advance.

“We can only put it down to the Friday 13th factor, possibly linked to the horror film franchise and also people’s fear of the date.”

This year there is a new entertainment zone under a giant marquee, where artists including a chainsaw juggler, escapologist, sword swallower and contortionist will perform each night.

During the day the attraction will be running family events.

Tickets for the Friday 13th opening night may be sold out, other nights in October are available. As this is a ticket only event, tickets must be bought online in advance from www.yorkmazehallowscream.co.uk
