ST Leonard’s Hospice is holding its annual ‘Paws for a Cause’ sponsored dog walk this September, and are looking for dogs of all shapes and sizes to drag their owners along.

The event will take place at the University of York Heslington East campus on Sunday, September 10, with a choice of a gentle one mile walk for puppies, or dogs with young handlers, or a more challenging four mile route.

Dogs can strut their stuff in one of the fun dog classes, including ‘Cutest Canine’, ‘Scruffiest Mutt’, ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Best Veteran’ and ‘Favourite Family’.

Pre-booking for this popular event is essential, and costs £7 per dog with all proceeds going to the Hospice.

The walk starts from 10am, with the dog classes starting around noon.

Event organiser, Katie Jackson, said “This is a great way to support the Hospice and have a fun day out with your four-legged friend.

"As well as free parking, there will be stalls, games, tombola and refreshments and all dogs will receive a certificate for their kennel and a goody bag with 2017 ‘Paws for a Cause’ bandana just for taking part.”

To take part in the walks, book online at www.stleonardshospice.org.uk or just turn up on the day for the general event.
