ONE of the region's leading theatres is looking for young people to be part of its summer spectacular Robin Hood: The Arrow of Destiny.

A young cast of three teams of ten young people are needed to play the parts of villagers and "merry people." There will also be the opportunity to work with puppets.

York Theatre Royal’s artistic director Damian Cruden said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to join us and take part in our swashbuckling summer show.

"We need not just one, but three teams of enthusiastic young people, who will all be able to experience the excitement of being on the stage of one of the country’s most beautiful theatres. I’m really looking forward to the auditions and working with some of the community’s talented young performers.”

Applicants should be aged between eight and 15 years and must be available for rehearsals scheduled to take place from July 8, and for the “tech week”, which is during the school holidays and begins on July 31.

The production runs from August 4 to September 2 - but it is not necessary to be available for all the dates.

Group auditions will take place on May 20 from 1pm and 6pm and should last approximately two hours.
