POLICE investigating the attack of a woman at a popular dog walking spot have issued an efit of the suspect.

The woman had been walking on Strensall Common on the outskirts of York between 2.30pm and 3.15pm on Sunday, February 26.

As she walked on a path adjacent to the golf course a man called out to her, causing her to turn around and walk back the way she had come. But he jumped out in front of her further along the path and grabbed the skin on her neck, twisting it.

The small dog then bit the man on the leg, causing him to lash out and kick the animal, winding her in the chest. But the pet went back and bit him again, causing the attacker to let go of the woman to tend to his leg.

It allowed the woman time to escape, as her dog stayed between her owner and the attacker, before they both managed to escape to her car.

North Yorkshire Police say extensive enquiries into the incident are still ongoing and they have had a good response from the public following their appeal for information.

Now an efit of the man has been released.

Anyone who recognises the man in the efit is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
