A SCHOOLBOY has been knocked from his bicycle by a driver who failed to stop at the scene.

The 11-year-old had been cycling home from Joseph Rowntree School at about 3.30pm on Wednesday, February 1, when an unknown vehicle shunted his cycle from behind, near the junction of Aucuba Close and Alder Way in New Earswick, York.

He suffered minor injuries, scrapes and bruising. The driver failed to stop at the scene of the collision and is now being sought by police.

Officers would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
