THE Freemasons are to be celebrated in colourful style to mark two of their major anniversaries.
The United Grand Lodge of England celebrates its tercentenary and the Province of Yorkshire, West Riding, celebrates its bicentenary during 2017.
And Harrogate Borough Council’s horticultural experts are to create a number of specially-designed flower beds to celebrate the occasions.
Some 9,000 plants are being grown at the Harlow Hill nursery for beds in Montpelier Hill and the Valley Gardens, Harrogate, and three beds in Ripon’s Spa Gardens.
The beds will be planted out in June. The plants should still be in bloom in September when a service is held at Ripon Cathedral.
