MEMBERS of a disability charity have benefitted from a training course thanks to a community award scheme.

Kirsty Walker and Nick Moxon, who are supported by Disability Action Yorkshire (DAY), attended an employment training course thanks to Vodafone’s Community Connection Award. DAY was selected by the Vodafone store team in Harrogate to receive the £1,000 award in April.

The charity helps create opportunities for disabled people to live more independently.

Jackie Snape, chief executive of DAY, said “Disabled young people face many challenges when looking for paid employment. The award money will help us to ensure a disabled young person is work ready and work on closing the employment gap between disabled and non-disabled people.”
