A MAN has been attacked by a group of people who punched and kicked him unconscious near a popular park.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the serious assault, which involved a group of males and females who approached the man as he walked towards the city centre on the riverside walk near Rowntree Park.

Four males from the group attacked the man, aged in his twenties, knocking him to the floor before causing him to pass out by punching and kicking him.

One of the people was described as being about 18 years old, of stocky build and wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up.

It happened between 8pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday, November 22.

Officers are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

In particular, police are appealing for information about the individuals involved and part of the group.
