POLICE are appealing for information following an assault near York Racecourse.
A man in his 60s or 70s - who has yet to come forward - was knocked to the ground as he walked along Racecourse Road with another man at about 6.40pm last Friday.
He was assaulted by the driver of a car who drove past them and then got out of his vehicle to hit the man.
A concerned member of the public reported the incident to the police and a 21-year-old was arrested. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
