A MOTORCYCLIST has been killed after colliding with a car on a country road near York.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the tragedy, but have since been released on bail while investigations continue.
The incident happened on Buttercrambe Road near Stamford Bridge at around 4.15pm on Sunday and involved a grey and yellow Yamaha motorbike and black Honda saloon car.
The motorbike rider – a man in his late 30s – received medical attention at the scene but died of his injuries. Police are not yet in a position to name him and investigations are continuing.
Nearby roads were closed to allow emergency services to tend to the incident.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles involved in the run-up to the collision.
