A MOTORSPORTS event saw world records broken and plenty of high-octane fun for all the family.
The Straightliners top speed event at Elvington race track, near York, this weekend saw serious riders attempt to break records – as well as plenty of fun vehicles fighting for the top spot, including fastest shed.
Rider Ian King took a world record on his Gulf Oil Top Fuel Drag Bike, and Kimberly Davey Schijven from Holland was the first woman rider to achieve a successful kilometre wheelie.
The fastest shed in the world was driven by Kevin Knicks form Oxfordshire; the Silver Bullet high powered sled ridden by Straightliners founder Trevor Duckworth – a 72 year-old with 30 UK and world records to his name. Other highlights included a jet-powered hearse called Dead Quick, a monowheel Atomic Infinity, and a jet powered shopping trolley.
Rider participation including record ratification and timing was administered by UK Timing Association.
