THE launch of a £14million water park in North Yorkshire has been delayed again following water temperature issues.

Alpamare Scarborough said the North Bay attraction, which had been due to open today (Thursday, July 28) had been put back until Saturday to ensure visitors got the best experience.

The park is said to feature the UK’s four longest and fastest water slides, including a four-man tube, a double-tube Olympic Run and a mat racing tube named Cresta Run.

It also has gardens overlooking the sea and numerous pools, including an outdoor pool filled with iodine water heated to 35C.

Building delays led the firm to cancel its planned Easter opening for the park, proposals for which were aired in 2005, before the economic downturn.

The firm's chief executive, Dr Anton Hoefter, said: "We are introducing state of the art technology, unique in the UK, and we take great pride in delivering the highest standard of enjoyment and safety so people get the very best experience they can.

"For that reason, although we have been working as hard as we can to get everything ready on time, we have had to make the difficult decision to open a little later than originally planned."
