A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital after being injured in a crash in York city centre.
The bike was in collision with a delivery lorry in Piccadilly at about 10am.
The accident happened near the road's junction with Dixon Lane, a cycle track and footpath near a Siemens office block which links Piccadilly with George Street.
North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service said the male cyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) but were unable to comment on the nature or extent of his injuries.
A Berendsen delivery lorry is at the scene with damage to its windscreen.
The accident scene has been cordoned off by police as officers investigate, and Piccadilly is closed in both directions, with vehicles diverted via Walmgate.
A cyclist at the scene, who did not wish to be identified, said: "I was coming along and saw a police car and ambulance, and a guy lying on the ground. He looked to be in quite a bad way."
