NEW classes for vintage Land Rovers have been added to this year’s Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show.

The show, held on Sunday, July 24 at Dishforth Airfield, will have new vintage classes for working Land Rovers, tractors, motorbikes and classic cars, with prizes for best restoration, best modified, and overall champion.

The top prize winners will receive £100, and the show hopes to encourage and vintage vehicle enthusiasts to enjoy the display and share experiences with like-minded people.

The show committee have said the show will still have its usual attractions, including classes for horses, ponies, donkeys, sheep and cattle.

There will also be driving classes, dog classes, and a “have a go” dog agility course.

There will also be the opportunity for people to submit their artwork, handicrafts and homemade produce, vegetables and floral displays.

There will be classes for novice gardeners and the committee has worked with the Allotment Society to encourage new participants.

Last year, the president for the second year running, John Knowles, said becoming a limited company had meant the committee members have financial security if things go wrong.

He said: “We want to attract more young members to be part of the organisation committee, but many could be put off if they think they will be liable for costs if there are problems.

"But now we are a limited company we have more protection – it just makes us a more professional outfit."
