A BAND linked to Britpop in the 1990s which had 15 Top 40 singles has played a one-off show to raise funds for North Yorkshire and York homeless charities.
The Shed Seven gig at Fibbers in York is expected to raise a five-figure sum for Safe and Sound Homes, which prevents vulnerable young people from becoming homeless in the county and York Arc Light.
It was the band's first amplified charity gig since they played at the Barbican in York in 2002 to help York City Supporters’ Trust in its bid to save the football club.
All the money from last night’s tickets, which sold out within hours of being released in early April, was donated to the charities.
The band also put a half-hour support slot up for auction on eBay to raise more money, which received a winning bid, of £1,130, came from a band called Hunters, from Staffordshire.
Shed Seven will play ten festivals and shows through the summer, according to frontman Rick Witter.
