GURKHAS will perform a traditional Kukri dance at concert by the Military Wives Choir in York on Sunday.

The Nepalese soldiers will entertain audiences at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre by dancing with their iconic curved blades.

They will be accompanied by a piper from the Queen’s Gurkha Signals during the concert which begins at 7.30pm.

The £10-a-ticket concert will see Military Wives Choir York and friends “sharing the music which makes us stronger together.”

This year marks the third anniversary of the Military Wives Choir York, who have members in their 20s up to their 60s.

The choir is part of a network that was created following a successful TV show inspired by choirmaster Gareth Malone.

Since forming they have performed alongside stars such as Alfie Boe, Aled Jones and Lulu and honoured the Armed Forces during remembrance services.

As well as the soldiers, from 246 Gurkha Signal Squadron, the concert on Sunday will also feature soloists Jessa Liversidge, Emma Allison and Ben Levy.
