A BANNED learner driver who claims to be addicted to motoring has been jailed after repeatedly being caught behind the wheel.
York magistrates heard Dylan McChesney was driving a Fiesta on Ascot Way, York on January 25.
Cathy Turnbull, prosecuting, said the 25-year-old told North Yorkshire Police he was on his way to visit a friend and "considered himself to be addicted to driving".
It was the third time he had broken a driving ban. Released on bail, he went on to break the ban for the fourth time - and was jailed for nine weeks.
After his release from that sentence, he went back to court to learn his fate for the Ascot Way crime.
For McChesney, Kristian Cavanagh, said: "Prison undoubtedly was a salutary experience. It was his first prison sentence and it is one he is keen not to repeat."
Magistrates sent McChesney, of Acomb, York, who pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and driving a car without a valid MOT certificate, back to jail for a second nine-week spell behind bars and extended his driving ban by 21 months.
