A TEENAGE exchange student from Norway has died suddenly after being taken ill in York.
The 17-year-old girl was taken ill at her home in York and died in hospital on January 26.
As inquiries are ongoing into her death, the Norwegian authorities have asked that she is not named, a spokesperson for York College said.
She was studying on the Heltberg International Programme - a one year course at York College for overseas students.
Floral tributes have been placed in the college in her honour.
“News of the student’s death was devastating for her family, her many friends at the college and all who knew and worked with her,” said the spokesman.
"The deceased was a model student who will be remembered for being a very bright, intelligent, hardworking and fun-loving individual who was enjoying her year in York.”
