A SCHOOLboy from North Yorkshire is hoping to make his mark as a baker – at the tender age of 12.

Isaac Greenhill is set to appear on the youth spin-off of the most successful television show of the year when he takes part Junior Bake Off, the child-friendly version of the Great British Bake Off, last month’s final of which was watched by more than ten million people.

Isaac, a pupil at Bootham School in York, started baking with his mother, Louise, when he was about four years old, as a way to help his coordination.

"I went to see an occupational therapist and they said using a wooden spoon and weighing out measurements would help me,” he said.

Proud mum Louise said: "I started teaching him how to bake. Now he's teaching me things.”

Isaac, who was 11 when he filmed the show, said the audition process for the Bake Off was "long and hard", but "a really fun time".

He added: "I absolutely loved the whole experience. I was 50/50 excited and nervous at the same time, but I felt that nothing was going to stop me.

"The show has really inspired me to do lots of different things, and it’s really given me confidence to try other bakes, and now I am really looking forward to practicing new stuff in the kitchen."

Isaac's Junior Bake Off appearance will be broadcast on CBBC on November 4, at 3.50pm.
