AN AWARD-WINNING choir is set to perform in one of York’s hidden-away, medieval churches.

Yorkshire choir Albion are to perform in York for the first time on Saturday, November 21, when they stage a performance inside the 15th century Holy Trinity Church, situated behind Goodramgate.

The singers were formed only three years ago in Sheffield but have already completed a national tour, recorded two albums, with a third to be released in December, and have been heard on BBC Radio 3. They were also recently named Best Vocal Performance at this year’s Buxton Fringe festival.

The music is all composed or arranged by Albion and draws on ancient musical traditions of Britain and Ireland. The singers will be giving two performances in York on November 21, within the atmospheric surroundings of Holy Trinity Church. The venue has been a place of worship since the late 11th century and the present building dates back to mainly the 1400s.

The first performance will be at 4pm, when the audience pay what they decide and another at 6pm, when tickets are £7.50.
