A 'GREEDY' takeway delivery driver has been jailed for 19 months after being caught with £950-worth of cannabis in his car.

Erhan Tepe, 34, of Carr Lane, York, was also found with £1,005 in cash when police stopped him on St Maurice's Road, in the city on January 14.

York Crown Court heard police stopped Tepe, who had been employed by a restaurant in Hull Road, as he had previously been banned from driving, before smelling cannabis inside the car.

Tepe, of Carr Lane, Acomb, admitted supplying cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply it.

Recorder Ian Harris said: "Make no mistake about it, cannabis is a dangerous drug and that is why a prison sentence for someone in your position is inevitable."

Kristian Cavanagh, defending, said Tepe had been motivated by greed, but had only made two or three deals a day to other drug dealers.
