A MAN is fighting for his life in hospital after a two-vehicle crash in North Yorkshire.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the collision near Harrogate at around 5.30pm on Monday, July 209.

A white Vauxhall Astra van and a silver Ford Focus collided on the A658 between the two junctions for North Rigton.

The van, which had “Future Builds” written on the side was travelling towards Huby. The car was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Harrogate.

The driver of the van, a 39-year-old local man, suffered serious injuries in the incident and is now in Leeds General Infirmary where his condition is critical.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 60-year-old woman from the Harrogate area, was left shocked but unhurt by the collision.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward with information.

It has been reported that the van may have overtaken a number of other vehicles prior to the collision and officers would like to speak to anyone who remembers being passed by it.

Anyone who can help is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for TC Charles Ferguson or Harrogate Roads Policing Group. Alternatively, information can be emailed to charles.ferguson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
