POLICE are appealing for information after an antique pistol was stolen from a stately home in North Yorkshire.

The English-made percussion pocket pistol – which cannot be fired - was stolen from Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley, sometime between June 1 and 16.

One of a pair and dating back to 1840, it is almost eight centimetres long and was taken from the National Trust property’s Stone Hall

Officers have released images of the stolen pistol and are appealing to anyone with information about the theft to come forward.
