SOME of the top names of the comedy world will be appearing at the region’s newest festival this year.
The Great Yorkshire Fringe will be a ten-day entertainment extravaganza in York from July 24 to August 2.
And among the stars now lined up are big names like Paul Merton, Reginald D Hunter, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Henning Wehn and Al Murray.
Fringe founder Martin Witts said: “I am delighted at the calibre of the comedy stars we have signed up to entertain the city of York this summer.
“These are all superstars who have performed at our West End venue, Leicester Square Theatre, and are among the biggest names in the business.”
The festival will include 100 shows from award-winning children’s theatre to cabaret, magic shows, burlesque, variety acts and music, all staged in the heart of the city centre.
Parliament Street will be turned into an astro-turfed village green with three entertainment venue.
There will also be several bars and food areas celebrating and serving
food and drink from the Yorkshire region.
