A BOOKSELLER got a surprise when the star of a recent Bond film walked into his York shop.

Olga Kurylenko, who starred in Quantum Of Solace, and Jeremy Irons are both in the city to shoot the romantic drama La Corrispondenza.

Directed by Italian Giuseppe Tornatore, the movie tells the story of a love affair between a professor and a younger woman working in the same field.

Darren Mann, manager of the Oxfam shop in Micklegate and a huge Bond fan, got to see more of the Ukranian beauty than he thought possible when she came into his shop during a break in filming. He said: “She popped in and had a look around the shop. The people she was with bought something, but she was just having a browse.

“She was sitting on the floor in front of my psychology section. I’m a big fan of all the Bond films and the director of this film – I’ve seen a lot of of his back catalogue.

“It’s good to see them filming in York because it brings business and helps put us on the map.”

Kurylenko, 35, most recently appeared alongside Russell Crowe in The Water Diviner and in 2013’s Oblivion, with Tom Cruise.
