A TEENAGE girl who was subjected to a serious sex attack on a school playing field is continuing to receive specialist support.

The girl was attacked on Easter Sunday morning as she was walking across the playing field of King James’ School in Knaresborough.

The area was cordoned off throughout the rest of the day as police and forensic experts combed the site for clues.

Detectives said there had been a positive response from the public following appeals for help – but they still want more people to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Allan Harder said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am still appealing for people to come forward.

“I need to speak to anyone who was in the area of King James’s School between 9am and 11am on Sunday.

“Any information, no matter how slight or apparently insignificant, could be crucial to this investigation."

Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the local community, and the spokesman said the girl was continuing to receive support from specially trained police officers.

Anyone with information which could help police should contact 101 and ask for Harrogate CID, or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
