A MURDER mystery play has turned into a real ‘who done it’ after a phantom thief stole the advertising boards.

Organisers of the Hightimers’ production at the Coronation Hall in Boroughbridge admit they are mystified.

But they say it has cost them dearly as they are still trying to sell tickets for their latest production, Tiptoe through the Tombstones on March 26, 27 and 28.

Producer Eleanor Hewitt said it had happened previously when the Chamber of Trade put out boards before Christmas which then disappeared.

She added: “Boroughbridge is a friendly community with lots going on for residents but they have to know about it. And the boards on the roundabout have been a great way of telling people.

“We checked with the Town Council, Harrogate Council and North Yorkshire and none of them have removed our boards but the boards have again mysteriously been stolen from the Canal roundabout.

"If we knew who has decided to remove them, then we could at least talk to them, retrieve our boards and try to find alternative sites but no one is admitting to the theft.”

Police have offered them a crime number but they are not covered on their insurance for the loss. Anyone with information contact the players via email on hightimers30@gmail.com
