THE next big thing to break the music industry could be discovered in the region as The X Factor comes to York.

Solo artists aged 16 or over by April 30, 2015, as well as groups, are invited to attend two venues in York as the search begins for the next star of the hit ITV talent show.

On April 7, York Designer Outlet McArthur Glen will be open from 10am to 8pm for people to go along and sing in front of producers.

The Spread Eagle pub in Walmgate, which previously hosted Britain's Got Talent auditions, will be open to all budding pop stars from 5pm on April 8.

Although judging favourites Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will not be there, anyone who impresses could be invited back to sing in front of them at a later date.
