A MAN has had his use of cameras restricted by a judge after getting a seven-year-old girl to film him performing a sex act.

Adrian Walton, of Meadow Court, York, admitted engaging in a sex act in the presence of a child after police raided his home and found the video - which had been shot in the property, along with other indecent images and videos of children.

Rebecca Young, prosecuting, said the child did not speak out for years about the incident .

The 44-year-old also pleaded guilty at York Crown Court to 11 charges of possessing indecent images of children and three of possessing extreme pornography.

In mitigation, Emma Bennett said Walton was ashamed of the incident, which had been a one-off and that members of his family were supporting him.

She added: “He has found this difficult to explain to his family."

Recorder Tim Roberts QC said Walton had taken the first step to involving the girl in sexual activity.

He said: "One can imagine what the next step would have been once he had got away with it.

“I am sure you have taken steps since that time to ensure that child’s silence.”

He jailed him for nine months, but suspended the sentence for two years on condition that Walton works with probation officers for two years and completes180 hours’ unpaid work.

He will also be on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and subject to a ten-year sexual offences prevention order restricting his use of the internet, possession of camera equipment and any contact with girls under the age of 16.
