IT’S the biggest meeting of the season for the Ascot of north - but not all eyes are necessarily on the racing.
The Ebor meeting is traditionally the biggest and most glamorous event in York’s racing calendar, attracting superstars of the equine world and a host of celebrity faces.
But the Thursday is always Ladies Day, when it’s the fashion stakes that matter for many of the female racegoers.
And they were not going to let a little thing like far from perfect weather cramp their style as they enjoyed their spectacular day out.
Some opted for strappy tops and short skirts that ensured plenty of flesh was on display while others were more restrained but all put looking good at the top of their agenda.
And in keeping with racing tradition the hats came in all shapes, sizes and colours, bedecked with a wide variety of blooms, ribbons and feathers – and with the occasional umbrella accessory.
