The Yorkshire coast is set to be a scorcher this summer as the line-up for the Scarborough Open Air Theatre kicks off on June 19 with international superstar Lionel Richie. There have been changes to the venue, too – new standing area has replaced the lake, so fans can get even closer to the action.

After Richie, the 2018 season includes The Script, Gary Barlow, Nile Rodgers, Steps, Alfie Boe, Emeli Sandé, Noel Gallagher, Pete Tong, Il Divo, James Arthur, Texas and Britney Spears.

Alfie Boe will headline the Armed Forces Day Concert on Saturday, June 30, at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Alfie’s exceptional voice has cemented him as one of Britain’s biggest selling, most popular and best loved vocalists of his generation. A hugely successful recording artist, he has conquered the world’s greatest stages and arenas as the star of such legendary stage productions as Les Misérables and La Bohème. Armed Forces Day coincides with the concert and is a popular family fun day out. Now in its tenth year, it takes place on South Bay. The event includes aerial displays, marching bands, parades, a service of thanksgiving plus family fun activities, vintage stalls, military exhibits and vehicles.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre is perfect if you like your music accompanied by gentle sea breezes - sitting within yards of Scarborough’s North Bay Beach. It has a capacity of 8,000 and opened in the 1930s, entertaining thousands each night. Since then it has undergone major refurbishment and was officially reopened by the Queen in 2010.
