POLICE are appealing for a witness to come forward after an incident of suspected dangerous driving on the A171 near Whitby.
At 6.35am this morning (Tuesday, February 20) a gold BMW performed an overtaking manoeuvre on the A171 heading towards Whitby, causing an oncoming vehicle to swerve to avoid a head-on collision.
Officers are asking the driver of vehicle that had to take evasive action, which was travelling towards Guisborough at the time, to contact them on 101.
The 40-year-old BMW driver, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and taken into police custody.
