A 74-year-old is £250 worse off after a woman stole money from a cash machine after she walked away believing it was faulty.

At the McColls store on Westwood, Scarborough, at 7.30am on Friday, December 15, the woman was using an ATM, but there appeared to be a fault with the machine.

The woman behind the victim was heard to have said “I’m going to be late for work”, which made the victim panic and walk away.

However, it worked and £250 was taken by a woman who left the store without attempting to give money back.

Officers want to speak to the woman in the CCTV in connection with the theft.

Anyone who can help should contact police on 101.
