A STAR TREK cast member is the latest guest booked to appear at a major science fiction weekend in North Yorkshire next year.

Dominic Keating, who played Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, the weapons and tactical expert on Enterprise NX-01 will appear at Sci-Fi Scarborough (SFS) on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.

Born in Leicester, the actor has also appeared on television in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Poltergeist: The Legacy and in films including the Oscar-nominated, Almost Famous, opposite Raquel Welch in Folle d’elle and in Beowulf with Angelina Jolie.

Other guests due to appear at Scarborough Spa for the weekend include Kenneth Colley, who plays Admiral Piett in Star Wars, Doctor Who monster actor Jamie Hill, Game of Thrones White Walker Ross Mullan, Josh Herdman who plays Gregory Goyle in Harry Potter and Sarah Louise Madison, who played the Weeping Angel in Doctor Who. Movie prop sculptor Brian Muir is also due to appear.

Co-organiser Steve Dickinson said: "Dominic is a fantastic guy and a real coup for us, we couldn’t be happier with the way 2018 is coming together, it’s so exciting”.

The weekend will see a mixture of guests, authors, comic book artists and other figures from the world of science fiction. There will also be gaming, indie films, Cosplay competition, panels, software developers, a "geek pub quiz", live music, collectible traders and a Saturday night party.

It has been described by its organisers as “the unconventional convention, run by the fans, for the fans”.

The event runs from 10am on Saturday, April 21 until 5pm with the “geek pub quiz”, party and live music from 6.30pm till late. The next day, Sunday, April 22 they day runs form 10am until 5pm.
