TWO popular eateries in North Yorkshire have been named as among the top 20 fish and chip restaurants in the country.
The Fisherman’s Wife and Trenchers, both in Whitby, have been shortlisted for the award in the competition organised by Seafish.
And they will now “batter” it out against 18 others across the country – including Longsands Fish Kitchen in Tynemouth.
To reach this stage of the competition, the 20 restaurants have been assessed against a wide variety of judging criteria, including menu development and innovation, responsible sourcing policies, staff training and development processes and marketing and promotional activity.
And over the coming weeks, judges will make unannounced visits to undertake mystery dining assessments.
