LEGENDARY wordsmith John Cooper Clarke will be heading to the Yorkshire Coast and bringing with him two other stars of the poetry scene.

Dr John Cooper Clarke will be performing at Whitby Pavilion on Sunday, November 12, where he will perform with fellow punk poet Toria Garbutt and Mike Garry.

Mike worked as a librarian for 15 years and began by reading his own poems to the hundreds of young people who attended his Library Homework Centre. They loved what he did and encouraged him to perform his poems at live poetry events and Slams, which he did, winning prizes throughout the UK.

His recent collaboration with Joe Duddell and New Order in New York’s Carnegie Hall in 2014 won five star reviews.

Toria, from Knottingley in West Yorkshire has produced a debut album, Hot Plastic Moon, which is a collection of confessional, observational and character-based punk poetry.

Headlining the show is Dr John Cooper Clarke himself. He’ll bring new material, ponderings on modern life, gags, riffs and chat.

Tickets for Dr John Cooper Clarke are on sale now priced from £15 and are available from Whitby Pavilion’s Box Office 01947-458899 and via; www.whitbypavilion.co.uk
