COASTGUARDS, paramedics and RNLI Lifeguards were all called to help a person who had fallen down steep banking at Sandsend beach near Whitby.

It happened at around 5pm on Saturday evening and the the Whitby Coastguard team was called to help the ambulance service in safely reaching the person who fallen around 20m down the banking.

The Coastguards and members of the ambulance service took the injured person by stretcher down the embankment and onto the beach.

Coastguards and some of the team from RNLI Lifeguards Yorkshire then worked together to transport the casualty off the beach to the waiting ambulance where they were taken to hospital for treatment.
