SCARBOROUGH’s Sea Life centre will open early one day this month, to welcome families into a sensory friendly environment.
On Saturday, the centre will open an hour early for an autism-friendly session, with an accessible quiet area, considerate lighting, reduced sound and exclusive use to help families enjoy the aquarium experience in a relaxed and understanding setting.
The event is being held thanks to the partnership between Max Card, the discount initiative for children with disabilities, and Merlin Entertainments.
Marketing manager Lia Bull said: “We have taken positive actions to ensure that the event caters perfectly to the needs of our guests attending on the day including creating special time-out zones and turning off our electric hand dryers to ensure sound is kept to a minimum.”
