ONE of the region’s leading theatres has launched a fund-raising effort to help stage a major production.

York Theatre Royal is holding a sponsored walk to raise funds for their next large-scale community production, Everything is Possible.

The coastal walk is a 13-mile walk from the fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay to the seaside resort of Scarborough on May 14.

All funds raised will go towards York Theatre Royal and Pilot Theatre’s latest community theatre co-production, which will take place in June this year.

The production will tell the largely unknown story of York’s suffragette movement and the ongoing struggle for female empowerment, drawing on a range of historical research and setting the story within the national suffragette campaign and in the present day.

Performed on a spectacular scale with a cast of 150 and a further 150 volunteers, the action will begin at the York Minster Piazza before for the first time moving onto the stage at York Theatre Royal.

As a registered charity, the theatre need help to deliver the ambitious project and the total cost of producing Everything Is Possible is over £100,000. T

The theatre team have a fundraising target of £30,000 needed to enable it to happen, with the help of friends, stakeholders and the support of the wider community.
