ONE of the country’s oldest water treatment works, at Irton, near Scarborough, is to get a £17m investment by Yorkshire Water. The company says the aim is to modernize the plant to improve drinking water and to meet the needs of future generations.
The works, which date back to 1880, provides water for residents over a wide part of the Scarborough area.
