EAST Coast Main Line commuters continue to face major delays after overhead wire damage has caused disruption to trains passing between Retford and Doncaster.

Repairs, which began on Tuesday were completed this morning but commuters are being advised to still expect delays while services return to normal.

National Rail said this morning: "All lines have now reopened allowing trains to run. Disruption is expected to continue until 5pm tomorrow (Thursday).

"Journeys between Doncaster and Grantham and throughout the East Coast Main Line are subject to delay and cancellation as services return to normal.

"Some trains from London towards Doncaster will not call at Retford. Passengers for Retford are to change at Doncaster for a returning service to Retford.

"Customers who have tickets dated for yesterday can use services today.

Routes that are affected by the disruption include:

  • Virgin Trains East Coast between London Kings Cross and Leeds / Edinburgh
  • Grand Central between London Kings Cross and Sunderland / Bradford Interchange
  • Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Hull
