A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl who was hit by 4x4 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, has died from her injuries.

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed the girl, who was in a critical condition after being involved in an accident on Thursday, June 16, could not be saved.

The incident took place at around 6.15pm on Lockton Road in Whitby, where she was hit by a black 4x4 vehicle. The child was taken by ambulance to James Cook Hospital in a critical condition, but she died the following day.

An investigation is ongoing and police are continuing to appeal to any witnesses who were in Lockton Road or Fyling Road area, or anyone who may have witnessed the child or a black 4x4 car prior to the incident, to come forward and contact them.

The child was wearing pink and purple trousers and a white coat with pink and purple flowers and an insect print.

Specially trained officers are continuing to provide support to the child’s family at this very distressing time.

Officers from Whitby’s Safer Neighbourhood Team are continuing patrols in the area to gather any further information about the incident and provide reassurance to local residents.
