LIFEBOATMEN are recruiting volunteer collectors to raise funds along the route of the Tour de Yorkshire as it passes through Whitby on May 1.

The RNLI is the official charity of the race and anyone interested in collecting on the day can pick up a collection bucket from the lifeboat station from 9am onwards.

Collectors can give as much time as they wish but crowds are expected to gather from around 2pm and the cyclists should begin to arrive in the town from around 3pm.

Some areas where collectors are still required include, Four Lane Ends, Mayfield Road, the Park and Ride site, Prospect Hill, Chubb Hill, Victoria Square, the swing bridge, New Quay Road/Dock End, Church Street and Green Lane.

All funds raised through the Tour de Yorkshire partnership will be used to support the charity’s lifesaving service in Yorkshire.
