A FOOTBALL club is hoping a fundraising event will secure significant funds to keep playing in the Northern Premier League.

Dennis Hobson, who has organised many large charity events, has pulled iconic 70s bands 10cc and The Real Thing so headline The Coastline Festival in aid of Whitby Town Football Club.

He said: ““I’ve played football in charity matches in Whitby and watched the club play, and they asked if I could help put on a memorable event to help raise funds.

“We are delighted to have assembled some wonderful people to make it happen, and the very best venue, The Stables at Cross Butts in Whitby.

“I understand the financial difficulties the club faces in their huge journeys across the country and costs they incur in the Northern Premier League. To stay afloat is in itself a great achievement.”

The Coastline Festival headlining 10cc and The Real Thing, with supporting acts, takes place at The Stables, Guisborough Road, Whitby on Saturday, August 6. Tickets cost £38 and VIP packages are available at £100.
