A LANDSLIP has cut off sections of a popular coastal walking route.
The cliff collapse in Port Mulgrave, near Staithes, North Yorkshire, led Staithes Coastguard to issue a warning that the surrounding area was also likely to be very unstable and should be avoided by walkers.
A cordon has been put in place which means there is no access onto the beach at Port Mulgrave, while sections of the Cleveland Way footpath between Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave are also impassable.
A coastguard spokesman said: “This is a remote stretch of coastline and anyone who gets into difficulty in the affected area would have problems summoning help.”
The North Yorkshire coast took a battering in heavy rains last week, with roads from Sandsend to Whitby closed.
