A TEENAGER with an eye for business has been shortlisted for a young entrepreneur of the year award after using his love of goats to create an unusual online beauty store.

George Booth, 16 from Westerdale, near Whitby, said he has always been fond of the goats on his family farm, and when he was 11 decided to pursue a niche business plan to sell goat meat, founding White Rose Boar Goats.

After later developing a line of skin care products from goats milk, George created a new business, Exquisite Luxury, which has earned him a place as the youngest finalist in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

George, who left school this year and is working full time in the family business, said he had developed the beauty product range, which uses goats milk and all natural products, because he noticed a growing demand.

He said: “It’s amazing to have been shortlisted - if I win it would really help me build my reputation. A lot of people are drawn to the products because they want something natural, not full of chemicals.

"It is great for any skin complaints like eczema and psoriasis because the goats milk is so soothing.

“I have developed all the beauty products myself by doing a lot of research for what I need to do and then just by trial and error."

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards take place on November 25 in London.

Janice Middleton, who works for the company, said: “I am so glad George has the opportunity for everyone to see what he can do at an early age. At some of the events we’ve attended people are shocked to know that he is the owner of the business and creates his own products.

“His knowledge of how his natural products benefit people shows his professionalism at such a young age.”

George added: “I am very grateful for the support I have received from many friends and colleagues as well as the support from my friend and business associate, Melanie Doyle of MelVic Makeup Academy.”

Simon Burton, founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said: “The entries we have received for the Great British Entrepreneur Awards can only be described as awe inspiring.

"The judges have had the extremely difficult task of whittling the great and good of the entrepreneurial community down to the very best and we are delighted by those that have made the shortlist.”
