A POPULAR museum is playing host to a local woman as artist-in-residence, to produce works inspired by its vast collection.
Sandra Storey, 54, will be working at Whitby Museum in the coming months with a view to exhibiting there next year.
An artist and practicing art psychotherapist, she was born in Whitby and grew up in nearby Ruswarp.
“Whitby Museum is an inspirational place that locals cherish and visitors are enchanted by,” she said.
“With its treasure trove of artefacts and huge collections of pieces from generations of local families it is already inspiring my work.”
The museum’s honorary keeper, David Pybus said: “Sandra Storey is considered an artist whose local roots and experience will add an extra dimension and quality to visitors’ experiences.
“We are looking forward to seeing how she interprets our huge collection with her unique style and how visitors are prompted to consider their own links to the museum and its contents.”
