LIFEBOAT crewmen were scrambled early today (Sunday, February 22), when a fishing boat got in trouble while out on the North Sea.
Scarborough’s all-weather lifeboat was launched at 7.40am when the nine-metre Caprnaum radioed that is anchor rope had snared in the propeller.
The vessel was six miles north-east of the port and the sea was calm although the temperature was only just above zero. The lifeboat then towed the stricken Capernaum back to the harbour.
“It was a straightforward towing operation in good conditions, the kind of thing our crew frequently trains for,” said lifeboat operations manager John Senior.
The crew were coxswain Wave Crookes with Chris Steel, Will Cammish, Adam Beston, John Evans, Carl Walsh and Dave Roberts.
